Equipment

The Ultimaker 3 is a dual filament 3D printer that uses a 3D printing process called Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF). A plastic filament is melted through a nozzle in the printer and the model is printed one layer at a time. Various materials can be used with the printer, such as Nylon, PLA, ABS, PVA, among others. The printer tends to operate with PLA and PVA filament, allowing prints to be made with water soluble supports.

The Form 1+ uses a 3D printing technique called Stereolithography (SLA), which is mostly known as resing printing. During the printing process, liquified photopolymer resin is flasehd with a UV laser, which hardens it. This process is applied to the 3-dimensional model layer by layer until the piece is completed.

The 3Doodler is a pen that writes in 3-dimensional space. 3D pens replace ink with a plastic filament that melts at high temperature and it is then used to draw in the air or on a surface to create 3-dimensional objects.

The Carvey 3 axis is a CNC mill. Given a 3-dimensional model, the device carves a block of material into a specified shape. Various materials work well with the Carvey, such as wood, plastic, soft metals, linoleum, foam, or molding wax.

The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset which can be be used in a variety of applications. Motion controllers are also available for VR-related projects.

Arduino is an open-source platform used to build electronics projects.

A breadboard is a construction base for solderless prototyping of electronics circuits. the studio has a wide range of components available for use.

The Silver Bullet Die Cutter provides precision cutting of materials from tissue paper through to dense card stock.

Any vector art software can be used to prepare files for cutting. We recommend the open source software Inkscape.
