Is the Studio open?
Currently the data lab (room 1.12) is open, allowing for bookable bureau 3D scanning, collection of equipment from our new loans service and collection of 3D prints from our new print queue. The workshop (room 1.11) remains closed but we will be opening it for limited access later in the term as health and safety allows.

Who can use the loans service and print queue?
Currently this is only available to staff and Students of the university, not alumni or external members of the Library.

Is the loans service and print queue free to use?
Yes 🙂

How can I learn or get help about maker related projects?
We are currently running online workshops that teach about various maker related software or you can contact us for advice.

Do I need to wear a mask or follow any other guidance to come to the makerspace?
Yes. All visitors to the main library must wear a mask at all times while inside. In addition the makerspace has hand sanitiser for use on entry to the room. The library also currently operates on a one-way system with 2m social distancing to be followed at all times.

Can I drop in to the studio?
This is not advised unless you are already in the library for other reasons. All visitors coming to the library just to visit the studio must book in advance.

Can I come in to get a free cardboard VR headset?
You can indeed! For now, please book a slot in advance to pop in. We’ll be extending locations to collect headsets from and improving access as Health and Safety allows.

Can I get inducted into the studio?
We have currently suspended inductions due to Covid-19 concerns, we are working to be able to offer them again as soon as safe and approprate to do so.

We'll keep you updated via our mailing list as the service returns. Subscribe below to be kept up to date.
