Electronics with Tinkercad

Interested in learning how to get started with hobby electronics? Tinkercad has facilities for simulating circuits. This workshop shows you how to use it to build virtual circuits, and to program a virtual Arduino to control them.

Learning outcomes:

  • Basic concepts in electronics such as power, making circuits, and common components
  • Introduction to building circuits on breadboards, and measuring them with a multimeter
  • Introduction to the Arduino platform, and how to control a circuit on a breadboard using Arduino

Photogrammetry with 3DF Zephyr Free

Interested in turning your photos into full colour 3D models?

3DF Zephyr Free constructs high detail 3D models from photographs. Its beginner friendly and combines well with other software we have workshops on as you can use the model you create for 3D printing, digital display, 3D modelling, animation, game assets or anything else you can think of. This workshop covers the basic process required for transforming photos of an object into a 3D model as well as advice on taking photos for use with the software. In this workshop, you will be familiarised with the interface, shortcuts, and basic operations.

Showcasing 3D Content Online with Rapid Compact and Sketchfab

Sketchfab is an online 3D model viewer that lets you display your 3D scans, sculpts, CAD files and other 3D content online in interactive 3D. Models can be enhanced with lighting, sound, annotation and animation to help you share your 3D creations and captures quickly and easily.

This introductory workshop will guide you through the process of optimising a 3D model using Rapid Compact before uploading to Sketchfab; adding lighting, texture and annotations; and the steps required to prepare them for display on screen, in Virtual Reality and via Augmented Reality too!
