Glossary

Paragraph

Point Cloud: Data points that are collected from an object or objects. They are used to create a mesh.

Mesh: Mesh is a 3D model composed of polygons. In the 3D scanning process, polygons are created using point clouds as verticals to create polygons.

1. Limit Box: To create a limit box, click ‘limit box’ button on the menu at the bottom of the screen and arrange the limit box as you need. When you are happy with the limit box hit the confirm button.

2. Cleaning Point Cloud: To get rid of unnecessary points, click the far-left button on the middle. Select unnecessary points by any tools from the list. Hit delete for deleting the selection or hit clear for clearing the selection.

3. Exporting Point Cloud: Click the home button on the top left of the screen. Under the export and import button, select export. 

 

4. Select File Type: In opening window, you will be able to see different types of file type options. Please refer to Point Cloud File Types Guide for selecting the right file type.

5. Creating Mesh Model: In order to convert the point cloud into a mesh, Meshlab or CloudCompare can be used. You can find the guide on creating a mesh model from Point Cloud in CloudCompare on the link below.
