Induction 
Attend this induction at the uCreate makerspace in order to gain access to the space and equipment.
This induction covers health and safety, general information and basic equipment instructions.
This induction does not go into any specific detail on how to use any particular piece of makerspace equipment.

Optional Follow up training

Every induction is immediately followed by a 45 - 60 minute specific equipment training for which, by signing up to this induction, a space will automatically be kept for you (but your attendance is optional).

Please see our event booking calendar to determine the specific training on the day of your induction.

Please note, for anyone who doesnt yet know much about the space or what they want to work with or for those whom are already very proficient with the equipment they wish to use and dont feel they need extra guidance, the follow-up training is optional and you do not have to attend.

However you cannot use the laser cutter or soldering equipment in the Makerspace without completing the training.

This training provides you with the knowledge you need to safely operate the Soldering Iron in the uCreate makerspace during staffed hours.

The training covers operation of the soldering Iron, a beginnners lesson on how to solder and health and safety.

Please note you cannot use the uCreate makerspace soldering iron without completing this training. Your name and University number will added to an allowed user list after completion.

If you have booked an induction of the day of this training, an optional space will be automatically reserved for you in this training - You do not need to also book this training.

uCreate Multimedia, 1st Floor, George Square Library

This 1-hour training provides you with an introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro video editing software, which is available on all uCreate Multimedia computers.

The training is designed for beginners and covers navigating premiere, working with clips produced with a green screen, compiling different scenes, adding audio, using adjustments and filters as well as adding text and objects to a scene.

Please Note:

 You must be able to access the universities managed computer system to participate in this training (Usually staff and students only)

 

Unlike our other trainings, this event has a maximum of 4 attendees and cannot acomodate extras.

This training provides you with the knowledge you need to safely operate Einscan scanners, for 3D scanning objects to create 3D models. This equipment can be loaned out of the makerspace.

The training covers operation of the Einscan equipment and relevant software.

This training provides you with the knowledge you need to safely operate our formative manufacture equipment, for creating solid designs out of settable liquids such as wax, chocolate, metal (pewter), plaster etc. This equipment can only be used in the Makerspace.

The training covers operation of the low temperature casting, mould making and vacuum forming equipment.

The training covers operation of our 3D printing equipment and relevant software.

uCreate Makerspace, Room 1.12 George Square Library

This 1-hour training provides you with an introduction to Blender 3d, a very powerful free and open source 3d modelling and rendering software. 

The training walks you through the layout of Blender, 3d modelling, using modifiers to manipulate models and finally into applying materials and rendering.

As Blender is a complex piece of software, this training is longer than our usual trainings and will include a short break in the middle.
